THE IMPORTANCE OF KINDNESS
Acts of Kindness Have Genuine Power In Them
If you have ever experienced kindness in your life, you know the difference that it can make.
The smallest act of kindness can tell someone that they are valued, they are not alone and they matter.
In fact, small kindnesses have the ability to change someone’s life, save their life or give them the strength to see themselves and their life differently.
Practicing kindness helps us to connect to others, supports us to appreciate people's differences and brings genuine happiness.
Kindness Dissolves Differences and Creates
At the GL Dissolving Differences Foundation we believe that everyone has the ability to make a difference by sharing acts of kindness that break down the barriers, the stereotypes and the judgements that keep us separate and isolated.
Dissolving Differences is the act of breaking down the barriers that create separation, isolation, rejection, loneliness and exclusion.
We promote and uphold the values of inclusion, diversity, individuality, respect, kindness, compassion, collaboration,
lived experience, acceptance and self discovery.
Our vision is a world where differences are not merely tolerated
but embraced and celebrated.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ASPECTS OF A HUMAN BEING WE DON'T SEE WITH THE EYES,WE FEEL WITH THE HEART
In 2004 we developed the Dissolving Differences program for schools to support our youth to overcome body dissatisfaction and build self esteem. This program is endorsed for the curriculum and continues up to today.
We also work with hardly reached groups, disadvantaged community groups and cancer wellness centres as part of our mission to build inclusion and support health and wellbeing in our communities.
Below are some of the groups we have worked with
and continue to support:
United Nations Think Tank for Youth
Breaking the Cycle
Andrew Love Cancer Centre
Royal Womens Hospital
International No Diet Day
Thank you for the services that you have provided to patients over the last twelve months.Your services have helped this range of women cope with body image problems associated with cancer surgery and treatments. Younger women, women in their middles years and the elderly have all expressed their pleasure at being involved in your programs.
Oncology Social Worker
Thank you for your contribution to our "Success" seminar. The evaluation sheets showed that this was the session the girls enjoyed the most and made a meaningful impact on the way the girl's felt about themselves, their bodies and what being beautiful really means.
