Gregory Landsman

Gregory Landsman is the founder of the GL Dissolving Differences Foundation. He is the best selling author of nine books, a wellness expert and TV host. Having survived the systemic racism of growing up in Apartheid South Africa and the daily physical abuse that came with being labelled as different, Gregory has turned his pain to purpose, actively sharing his lived experience to support inclusion, connectedness, resilience and wellbeing through his books, education program and the GL Dissolving Differences Foundation.

Gregory came to live in Australia at the age of 10 and credits this country as having ‘saved him’, giving him the opportunity to start a new life. He is passionate about sharing the learnings from his hard-won personal recovery to help others on their path to heal their childhood wounds, find peace of mind and build self-esteem.  Gregory shows people through lived experience that they are not alone and that real change is possible. It is for this reason that the primary areas of focus for the Foundation are supporting youth in connectedness and overcoming body dissatisfaction and food equity with cancer patients and their carers.

His first book, The Balance of Beauty Explodes the Body Myth (1994 Hill of Content) was semi-autobiographical and broke new ground exploring the link between the way we look and the way we feel about ourselves. It received global acclaim and is recommended reading for people suffering from body dysmorphia, body dissatisfaction and disordered eating. It was this that inspired his research in primary schools and the resulting education program for schools called Dissolving Differences.

His best selling book Stop Stress Fast, (2020, Hill of Content) shared his story of a breakdown from stress, overwork and unhealed childhood pain and his ensuing journey to overcome anxiety and deep seeded unhappiness, using deep breathing and cortisol lowering foods to lower daily stress levels and build resilience. This book has been endorsed by psychiatrists, family therapists and Lifeline counsellors as accessible, simple and effective in being able to reduce daily stress levels in minutes and deliver lifelong skills in stress management that can be implemented quickly and shared with those around us.
