OUR WORLD TELLS US DAILY IN THOUSANDS OF WAYS THAT OUR VALUE AS HUMAN BEINGS IS LINKED TO OUR PHYSICAL APPEARANCE.

We need to remind our young people to believe in their differences – to accept them wholeheartedly, to celebrate them and to nurture them.

RESEARCH IN SCHOOLS

In 2003 the Foundation undertook research in Victorian schools into students beliefs about what made them beautiful and their levels of body dissatisfaction.

Results showed that 96% didn’t like the way they looked.

Those students that liked the way they looked and embraced their differences (physical and behavioural), exhibited very high levels of self belief. These students experienced significantly less bullying, more inclusion and acceptance of their differences.

when we accept our own differences, we accept the differences in other people and the differences in life.

the Dissolving Differences program for education

On the back of the research the Dissolving Differences Program was created. The story 'A Lifetime of BEAUTY' written by Gregory Landsman was launched in schools along with an accompanying study guide called The Dissolving Differences Program, written by education psychologist Christine Evely.

A Lifetime of BEAUTY has been used in education as a book to build self-esteem for almost twenty years. It is endorsed and recommended by education professionals and psychologists across the globe.

That no-one is better than who we are

And in the same breath no-one is less

In this truth lies our hope, our freedom

And our strength to live a good life.'
